Definitions
Country Lane Classics is a division of RGC Classic Cars Ltd.
Owners: The Directors of RGC Classic Cars Ltd.
Hirer: The person or persons registered to drive the vehicle.
Agent: The person or persons arranging hire on behalf of the hirer.
The Insurance Policy
The vehicle insurance cover is fully comprehensive. It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that all reasonable measures are taken to secure the vehicle whilst unattended. The vehicle contents are NOT covered under this policy.
In order that our policy can operate fully, we have been requested by our insurers to photograph all our customers before taking charge of the vehicle.
Policy Excess
The hirer is responsible for the policy excess charge for the hire period. This charge will be secured by the owners, taken as a returnable deposit on completion of the “Rental Agreement”. Currently £400, E Type £1000.
Entitlement to Drive
The insurance company require that the hirer meets the following criteria to be suitable for insurance at the standard rate. Some deviations from these criteria are possible after consulting our insurers; a nominal insurance surcharge is sometimes required. In the event of any deviation please contact us with the details.
The Hirer
- is a UK resident/national.
- is aged 25 - 75.
- has had a full UK licence for at least 1 year for the type of vehicle hired.
- has had no motor accidents in the last 3 years (a surcharge may apply if this is the case).
- has no motoring convictions in the last 5 years (apart from minor offences e.g. speeding).
- has not been refused insurance or had special terms applied by insurers in the last 5 years.
The hirer must produce a suitable and valid driving licence and additional proof of address (originals only - no photocopies), copies of which will be made before use of the vehicle is permitted.
The owners permit only persons thus registered on the “Rental Agreement” to drive the vehicle. Additional drivers satisfying the above conditions may be added to the agreement incurring a nominal insurance charge, currently £15. The owners reserve the right to refuse to hire any of the vehicles at their discretion.
Limitations on use
Use is limited to social, domestic and pleasure by the registered drivers whilst on hire during the agreed hire period. Any form of competition use, speed trial or hire and reward is not covered under the insurance policy. Vehicles are not insured for use outside the UK unless special arrangements have been made with the owners.
Hire Times
- Single day hire is deemed any period between 09.00and 20.00.
- All other hire periods start at 09.00 on the first day and end at 20.00 on the last day.
- Any variations to these times will only be by prior arrangement with the owners.
Hirer Cancellation
Cancellation of the agreement more than 14 days before the hire date will result in a refund less a £20 administration charge. Cancellation less than 14 days before the hire date - no refund available.
Owners Cancellation
In the event of the unavailability of a chosen vehicle due to circumstances beyond the owners’ control, the owners will contact the hirer to make mutually acceptable alternative arrangements.
Owners Equipment
All property and equipment supplied with the vehicle remains the responsibility of the hirer for the period of the hire. Any loss or damage will result in a charge for replacement.
Re-Fuelling
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and, as far as practicable, must be returned the same. Failure to comply with this condition will incur the refuelling cost plus an administration charge. The hirer is responsible for re-fuelling with the correct type of fuel.
Delivery & Collection
This is available by arrangement. Additional payment may be required depending on mileage involved.
Smoking & Pets
For the benefit of all hirers, smoking and pets are strictly NOT permitted in any of our vehicles. Failure to comply with this condition will incur a charge for additional valeting.
Other Possible Charges
The hirer will be responsible for or will reimburse the owners on demand for the following:-
- Any fines, penalties, charges, court costs or any other expenses imposed on the vehicle by law during the hire period.
- Any reasonable costs incurred by the owners in collecting any additional charges due under this agreement including legal fees.
- Any uninsured loss or damage to the vehicle or equipment due to negligence on behalf of the hirer.
- The hirer or their agent agrees to accept that any additional charges arising from this agreement will be debited to their debit/credit card account.
Gift Voucher Scheme
The owners will issue a gift voucher to an agent acting on behalf of the hirer. The agent must ensure that all criteria specified in the section “Entitlement to Drive” are met. Please contact the owners if there are any doubts before confirming the booking. The agent must also be able to produce the necessary documentation, as listed, relating to the hirer.
The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Vehicle or driver details may be varied from the information on the voucher, if required, only by arrangement with the owners.
If you can’t decide which car to hire, then tell us how much you would like to spend and we’ll list the cars available in that price band on the voucher, so the recipient gets to choose - it’s as simple as that! If you would prefer, we can personalize the voucher with your message and send it directly to that special person.
Acceptance of Terms & Conditions
The hirer or their agent accepts the above terms and conditions on confirmation of the hire booking.
